Mr. Lapointe graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.  In 1990 Robert joined an engineering company as a Mechanical Engineer/Project Engineer.  He has worked for various Engineering and Manufacturing firms as a Mechanical Engineer and as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer.

In 2009 Robert began with DDDG Engineering Services as a Mechanical/Project Engineer.

SIGNIFICANT PROJECTS:

Plant Expansion

Lead Mechanical Engineer for the Mechanical design of a $3.5 million manufacturing plant expansion. He was responsible for the Mechanical Equipment Layout, HVAC System, Plumbing, Fire Protection System and Process Piping. Oversaw another Mechanical Engineer and Draftsman on the project. The work was completed on time and on budget.

Product Development

Worked on the development of a number of new products for a manufacturer of respirator filters. Responsibilities included the plastic design and detailed drawings of various components, fixture design, ultrasonic horn design (profile), bill of materials, work instructions, prototyping, first article and product launch.  All products were successfully launched.

Small Machine Design

Designed and provided detailed drawings on a piece of equipment used for laboratory testing of military filters.  He provided detailed design drawings for a second piece of equipment for prototype testing of filters and for a small machine to insert bottom retainers.

Process Safety Management

Process Safety Management (PSM) co-ordinator for a branch of a multinational manufacturing company. Was responsible for looking at existing safety programs as they related to modules of PSM identifying deficiencies, correcting the deficiencies, including:  Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Mechanical Integrity, Work Procedures, Contractor Training, Employee Training, Management of Change and Pre Start Safety Review.

Drafting

Provided drafting services to a company that manufactures reinforced fiberglass tanks.  Experience with AutoCAD, Solid Works, and Pro Engineer for the production of detailed drawings.

Energy Audit

Energy audit for a local housing corporation to survey 26 properties, including 532 living units. Visited properties, conducted energy savings calculations, and formatted the energy reports using AMC-GLOBE Energy Audit software.

Commissioning Activities

Overseeing as-built drawings, deficiency lists, site reviews and reports, and general commissioning activities for numerous HVAC installations, including: Packaged Roof Top Units, ERV’s, Make-Up Air Units, Duct Heaters, Economizer’s, Hot Water Heating Systems and Building Automation Systems (BAS)., commissioning and systems. 

Cost Estimates/Feasibility Study

Background in bid estimating and construction cost estimating for a number of engineering projects: Hot Water Heating Systems, HVAC Systems and Energy Audits, hot water heating feasibility and condition study for a 10 story, apartment.

Contract Administration Activities

Includes review of shop drawings, review of invoices and issue of payment certificates, engineering change notices, site instructions, preparing and issuing meeting minutes, site reviews, corrective actions, deficiency lists and reviews.
